Approaching With an Air Attack

![]() Using an air attack to approach is usually not the best option, but it will be used on occasion when the opponent learns the other more common approaches which are outlined in “Approaching with the Dash Attack”, “Banana Placement”, and “Grouping Bananas”. Knowing many different ways to get at opponent allows for mix ups, which create a sense of unpredictability. Most of Diddy’s air attacks will have no landing lag if performed by the peak of a short hop. With this in mind, Diddy can perform a few double air attacks in on short hop. Each double air attack relies on performing the B-Air first, after which, Diddy can perform another B-Air, an F-Air, an N-Air, or a U-Air before landing. This multitude of options gives him the ability to send an opponent at almost any angle if the second attack hits. Also, performing double air attacks against a shielding opponent may allow you to break through the shield by poking away beneath it. Double air attacks also work against an opponent who tries to dodge the first air attack. The most common way to approach with an air attack is RAR'ing. RAR'ed double B-Air’s, in conjunction with bananas, will commonly punch through an opponents defenses. Consider throwing a few bananas or shooting the peanut gun at the opponent, then immediately running toward them in order to perform an air attack. This method also plays to the slightly more telegraphed, but still useful, shuffled F-Air. When shuffled, the F-Air should have no lag upon landing. In addition to this, the F-Air has decent range and with the proper spacing you can reduce the risk of being shield grabbed entirely. The F-Air is Diddy Kong’s best air KO move other than his D-Air. |
