![]() Diddy Kong has one of the better recoveries in the game because of his versatility. The general procedure for recovering with Diddy Kong is to follow this order: 1. Use his Smash Side-B attack 2. Use his second jump 3. Use and properly angle his Up-B There are some other tidbits that allow Diddy Kong to recover from just about everything but a killer blow. Diddy Kong’s peanut gun can be charged and fired backwards for some extra horizontal distance. This technique should only be done if you are sent into the upper corner of a stage. The peanut gun can also be used to remove or frustrate opponent who are attempting to edge hog or edge guard. The Side-B attack can be tilted or smashed. By tilting the control stick to the side and pressing B, Diddy will go about 3/4th of the distance as he would by Smashing the control stick to the side and pressing B. A regular Side-B attack is known as the Diddy hump, however, inputting any other button prior to Diddy exiting the Side-B animation will cause Diddy to kick, which is known as the Diddy kick. If you perform a Diddy kick while in the air, you cannot use your Up-B until you have landed. If you perform a Diddy hump and successfully grab onto the opponents head, you will not be able to use your Up-B if you attack them with the A-button. If you press the X or Y-button, or up on the control stick, you will jump and still be able to use your Up-B. As is with most characters, begin your recovery approach from the side. If, after using the Side-B and second jump, you are still to far away, then drop below the edge of the stage and begin angling and charging the Up-B. Being below the stage keeps you safe from most attacks. Make sure to angle the Up-B for a trajectory that will allow you to automatically grab the edge instead of going over it. It’s easiest and safest to tap the control stick left and right until the desired angle is achieved, you do not need to keep holding up. Only attempt an angle and charge with the Up-B that will send you over the edge if the opponent is attempting to edge hog you. |
