Auto Cancelling

![]() In Smash 64, players could remove the lag on their air attacks by pressing Z before landing, known as Z-canceling. In Smash Melee, players could press the L- or R-trigger before landing to cut the lag of an air attack in half. In Brawl, there is no longer a button input required to cancel the lag on air attacks. Instead, some air attacks come with the attached property of auto-canceling, where the lag from the attack cancels automatically upon landing. Most characters have at least one air attack that can be auto-canceled. |
